授業で使えそうな英語フレーズ

 

● Could we really?

「今から遊園地行くんやけど、一緒に行かへん?」みたいな提案に対して、「ほんまに?」と疑問や懐疑を表現するとき使う。

Could I really? Could you really?も同様に使う。

A: "Hey, I heard you're thinking about studying abroad next year. That's exciting!"
B: "Yeah, I'm considering it, but I'm not sure if I can handle being away from home for so long."
A: "But you've always wanted to travel and experience new things, right?"
B: "Yeah, that's true, but... could I really handle living in a foreign country for a whole year?"

 

● I've always wanted to 〜

ずっと〜したかった

 

I've always waned to play Resident Evil 4 since It was announced.

I've always wanted to see my friend during a pandemic.

I've always wanted to start studying something  that would help me speak English better.

 

● I can take off two weeks

take off: 休みを取る
Take a break: 休憩する
Have a day off: 休みをもらう

 

My hasband can take off one day for my birthday.
I can't keep going without taking time off.
I have a day off today.

 

● That would be great

That(相手の提案、これから行われる事) would be (未来の可能性や希望) great!

That sounds great!とニュアンスの違いはあるのかな??

 

● I'm sure they would be happy to see you.

また出た!wouldは未来の可能性や希望

 

It would be a lot of fun!

(するとしたら)楽しいやろな〜

It will be a  lot of fun!

(もう予定は決まってて)楽しいやろな〜

 

● It's been a long time since ~

It's been = It has been
since を接続詞で使う場合、意味は2つある。「〜以来」/「〜なので」

 

It's been a long time since we started living in this house.

It's been a long time since I started to study English.

It's been a long time since My father died.
